At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Develop familiarity with the basic evaluation and management of acute, recurrent, and chronic headaches in children
- Identify and distinguish red flag headaches that require immediate evaluation from more common, benign headache presentations
- Understand the different types of headaches and the underlying mechanisms of head pain to guide appropriate diagnosis and treatment

Abstract:
This online course provides a structured approach to the evaluation and management of acute, recurrent, and chronic headaches in children. Participants will learn to identify red flag headaches requiring urgent evaluation and differentiate them from more common headache presentations. The course also explores the types and mechanisms of head pain, equipping clinicians with the knowledge to implement effective, evidence-based management strategies. By the end of the course, learners will be better prepared to assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric headaches, ensuring timely and appropriate care.

This course in English is not CME-accredited. However, it provides valuable educational content that can enhance your knowledge and skills in the subject matter. To receive CME credit for this course in Armenia, you must take the course in Armenian and complete the post-course quiz. You have three chances to achieve a passing score of 70%. Once you pass the quiz, we will send your information to the Armenian Ministry of Health for credits.

Dr. Wendy Mitchell
Dr. Wendy Mitchell is a distinguished pediatric neurologist with extensive experience in clinical care, education, and research. She serves as an Attending Physician in the Division of Neurology and a Professor of Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. She completed her pediatrics internship and residency at UCSF before furthering her training in pediatric neurology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Her expertise was enhanced through specialized fellowships in Behavioral Pediatrics at Mount Zion Medical Center in San Francisco and the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at UNC Chapel Hill. Board-certified in Pediatrics (American Board of Pediatrics) and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology (American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology), Dr. Mitchell is committed to advancing the field of pediatric neurology through patient care, medical education, and research.
