Abstract:
In this episode, Dr. Eyal Ben-Isaac interviews Dr. Sajjad Yacoob to discuss Atopic Dermatitis, one of the most common chronic skin conditions in children. Dr. Yacoob explains the difference between eczema and atopic dermatitis, outlines how clinical presentation varies by age, and reviews the genetic, immune, and environmental factors that contribute to the disease. The conversation highlights key elements of history-taking and physical examination, common triggers, and evidence-based management strategies, including barrier repair, topical corticosteroids, and newer targeted therapies. Practical tips for family education and long-term disease control are emphasized to improve quality of life for children and families affected by this condition.

Dr. Sajjad Yacoob
Dr. Sajjad Yacoob is an Attending Physician and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator) at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She completed her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by pediatric internship, residency, and service as Chief Pediatric Resident at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she brings extensive clinical and teaching expertise to the training of future pediatricians.
