Christopher Gayer, MD, PhD, FACS, FAAP, is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and Co-Director of the Colorectal and Pelvic Anomalies Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and serves as Program Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program. Dr. Gayer specializes in neonatal and colorectal surgery, necrotizing enterocolitis, intestinal dysmotility, and inflammatory bowel disease. His NIH-funded research focuses on inflammatory intestinal disorders and mechanisms involved in intestinal barrier injury. In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Gayer is dedicated to surgical education and mentorship of students, residents and fellows.
