Abstract
PubMed is a freely available bibliographic online database created, managed, and hosted by the United States National Library of Medicine. PubMed currently hosts over 34 million citations and is considered the primary resource in health sciences literature. Accessing and appraising the highest quality and most up-to-date research are integral steps in evidence-based practice, which ensures that clinicians stay current with the latest guidelines and recommendations, which will ultimately improving patient outcomes. While the basic features of PubMed are intuitive, Armenian clinicians and researchers will benefit from this course which provides foundational knowledge of how PubMed functions and delves into more advanced features, including searching with Medical Subject Headings and setting up personalized features. By increasing their knowledge and comfort in searching PubMed, course participants will have a powerful and additional tool when seeking out medical information online to inform their practice and research.

This course in English is not CME-accredited. However, it provides valuable educational content that can enhance your knowledge and skills in the subject matter. To receive CME credit for this course in Armenia, you must take the course in Armenian and complete the post-course quiz. You have three chances to achieve a passing score of 70%. Once you pass the quiz, we will send your information to the Armenian Ministry of Health for credits.
Lynn Kysh, MLIS, MPP
Lynn Kysh is a health sciences librarian with over a decade of experience which has included working in the academic setting at the University of Southern California and the clinical setting as the solo librarian at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). She received her Master of Library & Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012 and her Master of Public Policy from the same institution in 2020. Lynn currently leads the Research and Health Sciences team of librarians and library staff that provides specialized research guidance to faculty, graduate students and other researchers across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. The department supports One Health education and clinical scholarship, and operates Blaisdell Medical Library. Her professional interests include improving the quality of evidence syntheses, contributing to clinical informatics training in low- and middle-income countries, and promoting clinician wellbeing through the incorporation of the arts and humanities in education and practice.
